The Brief

Light, stone,
and a desert palette.

Dubai Hills is a quiet villa scheme. The brief was to write a material language for the Gulf light — pale travertine, brushed oak, brass accents, glass that resolves into the landscape rather than competing with it.

From an early stage we coordinated with the principal architect on the central kitchen island — a single book-matched stone block sitting beneath a recessed-light coffer. The dining and living spaces were planned as one open volume, with material breaks rather than walls dividing the functions. Italian furniture from our standing relationships completed the room.

Dubai Hills villa — pale travertine and oak

Central living volume. Travertine surfaces, brushed oak, custom recessed-light ceiling.

Material Logic

A single stone block,
resolved.

The kitchen island is built around a single book-matched piece of stone. The ceiling above carries a recessed brushed-brass coffer that tracks the island below — light, mass, and proportion in one move.

A material break in place of a wall. A coffer in place of a chandelier. Restraint, used as a tool.

Curation

Furnished as one room.

Every piece in the central volume was specified by the studio — sofas, dining suite, occasional chairs, rugs — and shipped from Italy to coincide with the architectural completion.
